BCCF was established in August of 2015 to foster the village of love and support to youth and their families within the East of Richmond & Eastern Henrico communities.

BCCF "Queens with Dreams" Circle
The Queens with Dreams program is a transformative initiative specifically tailored to empower and strengthen middle and high school-aged individuals who identify as female. This program aims to create a safe and inclusive space for girls to explore their true potential, develop a strong sense of self, and foster healthy relationships.
Through a variety of engaging activities and workshops, participants in the program will have the opportunity to enhance their assertiveness skills, learn effective refusal strategies, and cultivate a deep sense of cultural pride. The program will also offer enriching experiences within the community, allowing girls to expand their horizons and connect with diverse perspectives and opportunities.
One of the unique aspects of the Queens with Dreams program is its focus on intergenerational connections. Participants will have the chance to engage with women of all ages within the community, fostering mentorship and learning from the experiences of women who have successfully navigated various stages of life.
By providing a supportive environment and comprehensive resources, the Queens with Dreams program aims to empower young girls to become confident, resilient, and well-rounded individuals who can overcome challenges and pursue their dreams with determination and pride.
Barbershop Conversation & Wellness Series
Building Constructive Communities Foundation and Team Excel’s “Barber Shop Talks” Series provides a valuable platform for men and young males in high school to come together and discuss important issues that are relevant to their lives.
By creating a safe space for these conversations, we are addressing topics that are often not openly discussed, such as mental health, sexuality, healthy relationships, masculinity, money management, violence prevention, and living a substance-free lifestyle. This allows participants to explore and share their thoughts, experiences, and concerns in a supportive and understanding environment.
Barbershops have historically been known as places where men gather and have conversations about various topics. By utilizing this existing space and engaging barbers, we are creating a comfortable and familiar atmosphere for the participants.
The monthly sessions will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2:00-4:00pm at the Oak Avenue Complex (Former Highland Spring High School), providing consistent and regular opportunities for engagement and dialogue. This frequency allows for the development of trust, deeper connections, and ongoing support amongst the participants. Additionally, incorporating a physical wellness component by providing access to the gym for various physical activities contributes to overall well-being.
